This minidisc player turns on and has a new battery. However, the original seller did list, saying that it doesn't read the discs, and I have no way of testing that, other than turning it on because I have no minidiscs. No charger or anything else is included, but the player and charger.
Also, I am in the USA, not Japan. It's somewhat rare to find in the United States..
